And if that wasn't enough, she doesn't even get to leave behind the old neighborhood bully, Buster Bogs. His family will soon be following right behind them! While the rest of the Standish clan has no trouble adjusting to their new surroundings, Peggy is determined to hold steadfast to her loyalties. But in spite of her efforts, she learns that change is inevitable. Peggy makes new friends, discovers that there is much more to the south side of Chicago than she ever dreamed of, develops her first crush, and finds out the answers to a mystery that only a true Nancy Drew fan could.

This is a sweet, enjoyable book. I read it in one sitting. I had a similar "journey" to the South Side when I was a kid and the "ordeal" of making new friends and the fun and danger of discovering new things hit home with me. I would've given this book 5 stars except for some formatting issues that did absolutely nothing to detract from the enjoyment of reading it. I recommend it!Product details

This is pure dross. The author tries for an "authentic childlike voice" in the narrative and fails miserably. The language is pedestrian, the characters lifeless, the homilies and vignettes forced and unrealistic and the version of the book is riddled with typos, grammatical errors, misused words and tortured syntax. Don't waste your time.
Growing up in any city, this story will resonate and evoke wonderful memories. Ms. Pyka captures the imagination of any child having changes occur in their life with great humor and creativity. A very delightful and fun read. I highly recommend this engaging story.
This story was so very entertaining. It was if the author grew up with me in Chicago. Absolutely enjoyed and loved it!

Having grown up in Garfield Ridge at the same time as the author, found this read to be virtual trip down memory lane. Fun story.
What a fun read over the weekend! It brought back memories of my family's move from the city to the suburbs when I was young!
This is an excellent coming-of-age story set in 1960 on the Southside of Chicago. The author uses great details to show the reader what was really happening during this time. This book has wonderful historic value and I highly recommend it it!
